Biography:
Interviews
Ronnie Benjamin was born on the eastern Caribbean Island of Antigua; the land which boasts 365 beaches, one for each day of the year. His sound is smooth, soulful and infused with Caribbean flair, charm and flavor. He is a Singer, Songwriter, and Producer who has been both presenting and continually honing his craft for more than half a century. His songwriting continually evolves as he creates to the feel of the trade winds, the sound of crashing waves or just a quiet atmosphere on the veranda surrounded by palm trees and colorful bougainvilleas.

Ronnie has toured extensively throughout the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada and various Caribbean islands. His vibrant voice and energetic stage performances have thrilled audiences in major venues like Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Paladium. Ronnie’s textured reggae sounds and heartfelt ballads have garnered the love of fans both locally and abroad. He is also currently the president of Sunburst Productions, Ltd., a music recording and production company on the island of Antigua.

Ronnie’s love for music started at a very early age, and by the year 1980 he had released his first single, “Got To Make It Some Day”. Since then he has released another five albums. The earlier releases were on vinyl, including 'Celebration Time' in 1983 and ' Changes' in 1985; and they have become collector’s items. His first CD 'Reggae Fever ' was promoted by Nesak International in 1991. Some of Ronnie Benjamin's older materials are compiled on The Early Sounds of Ronnie Benjamin, released in 1999.

Ronnie’s more recent CD’s were produced by Afrikan Roots Lab, Inc. in St. Croix; with feature vocals by his sons, Vaughn and Ronnie Benjamin. His current release “Life” features varied messages about love and life’s social issues. These days he is still strumming the strings on his Gibson at local venues in Antigua, and penning tunes that continue to touch hearts.
