Biography:
Interviews

Elisa (Empress Itilafeyah) King is a roots cultural singer/song writer and Nyahbinghi chanter. Born and raised to African American parents who brought her up in a baptism church where her love for music began as a choir singer along side her three sisters and brother. After growing up and moving out on her own, She began to convert her life over to Rastafari. Empress Itilafeyah started attending the Ethiopian World Federation (Bobo Ashanti church). Shortly after, She engaged herself into The Order of The Nyahbinghi House. Her first song she wrote as a Rastafarian was titled "The King Calls in Mysterious Ways". Moving to Jamaica in March 2006, She started to pursue her music career under a conscious hip hop style. She recorded her first six songs on hip hop and R&B rhythms. Locally, Her hip hop style that she was using to promote herself musically at that time wasn't getting as much air plays on the Jamaican radio stations. By 2008 , Empress Itilafeyah stopped using hip hop rhythms and started voicing her songs on roots reggae on drop rhythms. Being introduced to Caveman studio in 2009 and learning more about the reggae one drop, Her style became even more roots and cultural. One day, While listening to a rhythm in the studio, Producer Caveman looked at Empress Itilafeyah and told her plain and simple that, Historically no one was not really highlighting Empress Menen (Halie Selassie's Queen) as much as they should on a music level. He suggested that she do an Empress Menen song. Just like lightning, In a flash Empress Itilafeyah wrote and recorded the song for Caveman making the song titled "Empress Omega" a very inspirational hit along with her other big hot singles like " Nyahbinghi Trod it On" "U can Be, "No Bad Vibes, and the list goes on. Performing at numerous shows, Making herself a real entertainer for the stage, And consciously fit for the spot light. Empress Itilafeyah indeed is a firm star rising to success!!!!
