Biography:
Interviews

Born and raised in the West Indies on the island of Trinidad, at the tender age of five years old Cherisse's mother discovered her ability to sing. Gracelin Morris wasted no time in getting her involved in school and church choirs. Cherisse then moved on to participating in local competitions at the Queen's Hall in Port-of- Spain. Coming in second place as a soloist, she continued taking voice lessons and was told by her teachers to never give up singing.

Fastfowarding some twenty or more years after becoming a proud parent, Empress Cherisse resumed her talent and also discovered the gift of songwriting. Once again taking it to the stage as an opening act for Beenie Man, Capleton and Military Man at the West Indian Social Club in Hartford Connecticut. She has also participated in voluntary work for the Jah Wuks Kids International Program and the Shashamane Fundraiser Fashion Show. Empress Cherisse was quickly recognized as the "Sade of Roots Reggae"with her heavenly crystal clear sounds.

In 2007 her debut album"Serenity"produced by Ariff Anwar was released. V.I.Records quoted it was one of the strongest albums for that year along with Noble Society. She is now in the process of working on her second album with the infamous songwriter, producer and musician "Tuff Lion". Putting together some honey sweet rythms with the voice of an angel Empress Cherisse believes the sky is the limit. For those who are open and always searching for new and unique talent, Empress Cherisse is the answer to their craving.
