As-salamu alaykum to all our Muslim Brothers and Sisters...
Our message to you first of all is that we have a lot of Raspect for you. We can see that the Islamic faith is a beautiful one with many good teachings, and even though there are different interpretations on how to live in good faith with the Koran, we have found that the majority of you live in peace with people that have different believes. Both of us Muslims and Rastafari have faith in the same god ALLAH which we call YAH. This should mean that we are not that different from one and other, living for and being inspired by the same God only having a different name for it. We should work on unification and peace. If you take time to learn about Rastafari you might also find that we are closely related, with Muhammad being a descendant from Ishmael ( one of the patriarchs of Islam), the first born son of Abraham who he had with the Egyptian handmaid Hagar. In those times Egypt was ruled by Nubians and (as this website wants to make you aware of) Abraham was African and dark skinned also.
This shows that we are brothers and should try to have Raspect and show more kindness for each other.
There are many examples of how the Koran has taught people to live a life that is filled with Love and care for each other regardless of faith. There have been many Muslims throughout history that have achieved great things and are respected for this worldwide. It would be very short sighted not to acknowledge this or to view Islam as something bad just because of the negative publicity it is getting because of people that choose to follow the interpretations of certain extremist groups within the Islamic faith that are less positive. There are a lot of people that don’t respect the Islamic faith nowadays or are even scared of it because of bad publicity caused by terrorism. Seeing people being killed in the name of ALLAH is not a good thing, and we don’t agree with this, it doesn’t do the name of ALLAH and Islam any good. Just like how people within the Christian or other faiths have done terrible things to other people from different cultures and even to each other, killing millions of people throughout history forcing these other cultures with violence to live according to what they believe, Islam suffers from these same human faults. It’s not necessarily the Koran (or the Bible) that instructs this, it is the interpretation by certain influential and powerful individuals that are the cause of this. We as Rastafari can’t condone some of the violence and persecution that has been and is being committed in the name of ALLAH, we Raspect the peaceful aspects of Islam but reject anything that has to do with violence and oppression to any human being. We overstand that you could say the same thing about Christians (being violent and oppressive) but you should overstand that although Rastafari is a Christian based faith we are not like the other Christian religions that have an equal amount of blood on their hands, we reject this too. Rastafari is a good example on how to deal with attacks from other people, we don’t retaliate in the same manner that was done to us, we respond by being faithful to YAH the Bible and its message of living in righteousness. As you know people from the African diaspora have been treated badly as we Rastafari too are dealing with a lot of rejection and persecution. But that hasn't turned us from being good. We know the Koran states that ones can defend themselves with aggression if ones are confronted with oppression, as we do too. But we don’t take it as far that we will take another persons life, we defend ourselves if necessary but don’t take it too far, like go to war or become terrorists.

Something good to know or to remind you of, is the fact that Ethiopia played a big part in Islamic history when a large group of followers of Muhammad fled to Ethiopia after being hunted down by Arabs who opposed Muhammad’s teachings and being protected by the Ethiopians from this persecution. This group of Muhammadans later went on into the world to spread the message of Islam. When Muhammad learnt of this act of kindness and solidarity he instructed every Muslim Never to attack or invade Ethiopia and to always be kind hearted to them.
It might also be of interest to you that we as Rastafari (most of us) have faith that the Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie I is the second coming of Christ and that this great man had Islamic Roots with his mother being from Islamic descent and that His beloved wife Empress Menen Asfaw also had Islamic roots and that her blood line can be traced back to that of Prophet Muhammad. We know that the Koran acknowledges Christ as one of the greatest prophets, that it is foretold that he would return and to show Raspect when he does. So we would like to encourage you to see if there is any truth in our faith, and regardless of what you find and believe, to be Raspectful to Rastafari in honor of Muhammad’s words. This website may help you find truth in that as it is also of importance in you faith.
Blessed Love
