What we would like to say about the musicians is that just like Sport Athletes and people in the Movie/TV industry you have a lot of power to influence ones who follow or like you. People have a tendency to look up to and follow those who are the public eye or ears. People get inspired and motivated by your actions, what you say, what you wear and do. This comes with a level of responsibility, there always those who don’t care about this responsibility and will take it for granted and even abuse it by giving bad examples, behaving in ways that if emulated wont be beneficial for ones who do that. And there are ones that do realize, except and respond to this responsibility, Raspect for those artists...this message is more for the ones that don’t.

RAP/DANCEHALL ARTISTS

Gangster Rap and a certain type of Dancehall music are probably the best example of this negative influence we have something to say about... In Rap and Dancehall there is a division between good and bad examples. There are Rap and Dancehall artists that rap and sing about all kinds of bad and negative aspects of life, focusing on money, materialism, sex, drugs, killing, violence, we all know that type of music as we are confronted with it everyday, especially Rap because that is more popular and mainstream. Unfortunately we would say it has so much negative influence on peoples mindset. Its not as if everyone who listens to these type of music go and do these things themselves, but it does have an effect on peoples awareness and state of mind, effecting them to some degree. There are also those that Do follow Artists and get motivated and inspired to act and behave in the same way some of these artists are portraying themselves to be, which they are often not. Often Gangster rappers are just acting as if they are doing these things in real life, but most of them don’t. They over saturate or rap about things that go on in the streets that they might have been part of in the past. They will argue that is real life they are rapping about and hypocritical to not mention it. We can agree with this to some point, we all know street, ghetto and gang life can be tough and bad things happen in these surroundings and the things these rappers or dancehall singers rap and sing about are just a reflection of reality, and it is. But we don’t agree with adding fuel to this situation and being irresponsible by encouraging ones who are in this situation. If ones come out of this type of life and are able to make a living by rapping about it that is fine, if you had a certain type of life style that ones in the same situation can relate to, then it is only natural that ones make songs about this. But at some point We would say, move past this and keep rapping and singing about reality and not to abuse your influence by making things worse for other people then they already are, you know what it is like to be in that situation, you have made it out because of the talent, creativity and hard works. Then we would say, just try and be a bit more responsible and uplifting source for others. We overstand that this is ignorant or wishful thinking, and know that rapping or singing about softer more positive uplifting things would sell less records and tarnish your street credibility or image. But still we just felt like saying it, probably in vain, but maybe there are couple of artists that can take this message and think about and maybe make a change for the better. We are living in times where these things matter more then in the past, people are becoming more conscious we are heading forward into a new age so maybe this message will resonate more then it would in the past. We can already see a shift in some big artists approach and becoming more positive influencers, as mentioned this is the time of higher consciousness so it is only logical that ones will jump on that boat, also because there is money to be made going in that direction, which is always a motivation point for artists, making music that resonates and therefore sells. So keep going in this direction Brothers and Sisters and lets make a change for the better.

ALL OTHER MUSICIANS

In all other music genres this extreme negative vibe that’s created by Rap and Dancehall artists is less of an issue, pop, rock, soul, r&b, jazz, blues, techno etc usually don’t sing about killing people, sexual explicit, materialism and so on. What we see in these types of music is that there is extreme focus on Love songs or personal issues, songs that don’t have a particular uplifting message. When we listen to most music artists, maybe 70% are love songs, 25% personal issues, and maybe 5% have some kind of inspirational message. We don’t have anything against love songs, just the amount of them and the lack of inspirational music is what is so remarkable. Some of the greatest and most inspiring musicians who went into history as timeless songwriters and the ones who are respected the most were artist that Did make uplifting and positive music with a clear message behind it. That’s why we say its remarkable because we would think more artists would take this route seeing what kind of influence it has on people and also on an artists career and legacy. But for some reason most artists tend to go for the love songs... naturally this is always on the forefront of peoples lives, and it is always nice to listen to a song love song or two, but we say we have gone a bit overboard with this subject and it wouldn't hurt to sing a bit less about relationships and more about other subjects that might have some kind of influence on people, in being positive or just for awareness about something, some kind of information to transmit. There are so many subjects to choose from that this shouldn't be so difficult to do. But then again I am not a song writer and maybe underestimating this, still it is remarkable and would like to see a big change in this and have more artist make an effort to elevate, uplift, inform, and inspire people with their lyrics.

REGGAE ARTISTS

Keep doing what you doing, its all wonderful and great! and good example for the artists we just mentioned above, almost every Reggae song has some kind of message in it, a lot of love songs to, but there is a balance that we don’t see within other music genres. So all musicians out there use Reggae as an example of things can also be done.

Alright that,s it for now, keep making Positive, Informing, and Uplifting music to All the Singers and players of Instruments.

Blessed Love
